Corrugated Plate Interceptors (CPI)
Cost-Effective Gravity Separation for Produced Water Treatment
When process conditions do not permit the use of hydrocyclone systems, Corrugated Plate Interceptors (CPI) offer an efficient and economical alternative for separating oil and suspended solids from water. CPIs are widely used in industrial wastewater treatment, oil-water separation, and stormwater or sewer overflow systems.
The CPI operates on a gravity-based separation principle. As the produced water flows through the unit, lighter hydrocarbons rise and heavier solids settle, aided by a series of inclined, corrugated plates that increase the effective surface area for separation. This design ensures smooth, continuous operation with minimal maintenance requirements and no moving parts.
Advantages
- Available in a range of sizes to suit specific process needs
- No moving parts — ensuring durability and reduced maintenance
- Low capital and operational investment
- Capable of handling oil surges or slugs without compromising performance
- Compact and efficient design suitable for modular or skid-mounted systems
- Manufactured in compliance with API standards
- Delivers treated water with oil concentrations as low as 50 ppm
- Ideal for both onshore and offshore applications
