Mechanical Heater Treater

Efficient Treatment Systems for Crude Oil and Emulsion Separation

SPEC offers a wide range of modular horizontal heater treater packages capable of handling over 20,000 BLPD and treating low API crude. Each unit is engineered to provide efficient heating and separation of oil, gas, and water from produced fluids, ensuring optimum product quality and compliance with process requirements.

A SPEC Mechanical Heater Treater consists of two main sections — the heating section and the coalescing section — both designed for high reliability and easy on-site operation.

Process Description

The heating section contains firetubes that heat the incoming produced fluids to the required treating temperature. As the fluid flows downward through the heating zone, associated gas exits through a back-pressure control valve while free water is drained from the bottom of the vessel.

The heated fluid then passes through a surge section before entering the coalescing section, where oil and water separation occurs. The oil rises to the top and exits as treated oil, while the treated water is collected and discharged from the bottom of the treater.
